Getting My Dual Citizenship: A Journey of Patience and Persistance
Let me tell you, getting my dual citizenship was a long and sometimes frustrating process, but hey—if there’s one thing about me, it’s that I don’t give up easily. As an Aquarius and a humanitarian at heart, I’m all about breaking through systemic barriers and making things happen, no matter how challenging. So, if you’re thinking about going through this process, here’s my advice: be patient, stay persistent, and don’t give up!
I did my process in Mexico City because, for my specific case, I couldn’t handle it at the consulate in the U.S. The first (and hardest) step was getting my mom’s birth certificate from Mexico. Here’s the kicker: her birth certificate had to match exactly what’s on mine to prove she’s my parent. Sounds simple, right? Wrong. They couldn’t even find her in the system! Can you believe that?
After what felt like a million extra steps (and a lot of deep breaths), I finally got her birth certificate. Once that was done, the rest of the process was much smoother. Still, it was a journey that tested my patience and determination.
If you’re considering dual citizenship, I highly recommend it if you can make it happen. It’s worth the effort! I plan to do a video breaking down the process step by step because I know how overwhelming it can feel.
For now, if you have questions about the process, let’s connect! or share your own experience? Send me an email! Let’s chat—I’d love to hear from you.
Dual citizenship isn’t just a piece of paper; it’s a connection to your roots, your culture, and your identity. And if I can do it, so can you.
